How to practice Spanish with the 1-2-3 cycle

1. Listen to the story while looking at translation

Start with meaning. The story audio stays in the language you are learning, while translation keeps the input clear enough to follow.

2. Listen to the story while looking at the original text

Move from meaning to form. You hear the same story again while your attention shifts to the original words and sentence shape.

3. Listen to the story without looking at text or translation

Remove the support. By the third pass, you listen for meaning directly instead of decoding isolated words.

Same target-language audio plays in all three passes — only what's on screen changes. The goal is simple: keep the language meaningful, supported, and low-pressure until your ear can follow it on its own.

Comprehensible input, then contextual practice

Make input clear on the spot

Stories give you real language first. When a sentence is just beyond your current level, tap any word and LingFlow restores meaning: full-sentence translation, the word on its own, its base dictionary form, and a quick grammar hint when that form matters.

Save words from meaningful context

Your vocabulary is not a detached word list. Save words and phrases at the exact moment they appear in a story, so each item keeps the scene and sentence that made it understandable.

Train with reverse translation

Type or say the phrase in the language you're learning. LingFlow grades each answer as correct, close, or off — and when something slips, it shows the smallest fix you needed plus a short note on the mistake. You try the word again in a new context; after three correct answers across different contexts, it counts as learned.

FAQ

Where do I start?

Open the web app at app.lingflow.me, or install the LingFlow mobile app. Your progress is tied to your account on either platform.

What is comprehensible input?

Comprehensible input means language you can understand enough to follow the message, even if some words or forms are new. LingFlow is built for that: stories come first, translation and word help keep meaning clear, and repeated listening lets the same language become easier without turning it into isolated drills.

Is LingFlow connected to Stephen Krashen's ideas?

LingFlow is not affiliated with Stephen Krashen and does not quote his work. It does overlap with the well-known acquisition idea he helped popularize: learners benefit from meaningful language input they can understand, with enough support and low pressure. LingFlow turns that overlap into a tool: supported stories, a 1-2-3 listening cycle, and contextual practice after meaning is clear.

How long is the free trial?

7 days when you sign up. All features are open on a starter set of stories — enough to try the 1-2-3 cycle, the Context Trainer, and your personal vocabulary.

How does the 1-2-3 cycle work?

Listen to the story while looking at translation. Then listen while looking at the original text. Then listen without looking at text or translation. The audio stays in the language you're learning across all three passes — only what's on screen changes.

What's a lemma and why does it matter?

A lemma is the base dictionary form of a word. When you tap a word in the story, LingFlow shows both the form you saw and the lemma — so all the conjugations, tenses and number forms of the same word link back to one entry in your personal vocabulary.

How much does a plan cost?

We have three plans — Basic, Premium and Premium Annual. Current prices and what's included are listed in the Plans section above; payment happens inside the app. The annual plan has the lowest effective monthly price.

What's the difference between Basic and Premium?

Basic gives you the story player with audio, sentence-by-sentence translation, and the 1–2–3 listening cycle — enough to read and understand stories. Premium adds your personal vocabulary and the Context Trainer: LingFlow turns the words you collect into phrases and sentences, checks your answers, and gives short error feedback. Premium Annual is the same Premium plan billed yearly at a lower effective price.

Can I use LingFlow on my phone and computer with one account?

Yes. Sign in with Telegram or Email on any device — your vocabulary, progress and subscription sync automatically. Use the web app at app.lingflow.me, the mobile app for daily practice, or both.

What if I run into a problem or want to give feedback?

Open the Support section in the app and describe what happened — your message lands in our chat and we reply right inside the app.
